As of May 10, 2023, it has officially been a full year since DJI announced the Mini 3 Pro — so with that in mind, I decided it was time to sit down and put together a real in-depth Mini 3 Pro review utilizing the data and experience I had gained from over 200 flights […]
With over 90% market share in the consumer drone space, DJI is undoubtedly the king of drones especially in the under $500-$2500 price range. They have a wide range of options available starting with the cheap Mini SE all the way up to the Mavic 3 Cine. And even with newcomers like Skydio and Autel […]
Insta360 — like its name suggests — is known for making 360° cameras, but its new ONE R action camera is still a bold new direction for the company. What makes the ONE R unique is its modular design. Using the 4K Wide Angle module you have a GoPro-knockoff but swap in the Dual Lens […]
The Nikon P950 packs a lot of specs for a camera that costs only $800. 4K video recording, RAW 16mp photos and oh yeah — a gigantic 24-2000mm compact zoom lens. Mentioning that fact alone is enough to turn heads, but whether the P950 delivers the image quality to back up the specs is more […]
Apple’s new iPhone 11 Pro is all about cameras. With three 12mp/4K cameras on the back, it is a full lens kit in your pocket. For my video I decided to not only test out the new iPhone 11 Pro camera but also compare it to an iPhone X and iPhone XS I was lucky […]
Feiyutech definitely isn’t a household name. They aren’t even really in the top three brands when it comes to single-handed gimbals (I would argue Zhiyun, DJI & Moza in no particular order). However, Feiyutech has actually been around for over 10 years, primarily focusing on smartphone and GoPro gimbals, and while the AK4500 isn’t their […]
DJI is the undisputed leader in consumer and prosumer drones. They offer drones from $399 for the entry-level Spark all the way up to $1499 for the Phantom 4 Pro. Calling in a bunch of favours I was able to get my hands on all of DJI’s current consumer drones to film a comparison video. […]
DJI Mavic Air is DJI’s newest drone, but since it is designed for portability above all else, it isn’t necessarily the best. To see just how good it is, I brought it along on a recent trip to Australia. What better way to test a drone made for portability than on a trip that begins […]
Preorders for the new Samsung Galaxy S9 started yesterday. While most phones are cheaper through the carrier than buying factory unlocked, many tech blogs were quick to notice that this was not the case for the S9 and S9 Plus. AT&T, Sprint, & Verizon are all selling the new S9 and S9 Plus for between […]
The iPhone X features one of the greatest cameras ever put in a smartphone. Well, two of the greatest cameras since it actually features two sensors. One with a wide angle (28mm, f1.8) lens and the other with a “telephoto” (56mm, f2.4) lens. These shoot 12mp photos, but more importantly for the mobile filmmakers out there, they are capable of capturing video at 4k/60fps & 1080p/240fps using either lens, PLUS with optical image stabilization.
With this in mind, I know I had to put it to the test ASAP. How soon you ask? Before I even got it out of the box. Due to the sheer impossibility of this, I asked my friend and fellow YouTuber Stetson Doggett to come help and bring along his recently unboxed iPhone X so I could fulfill my iPhone-ception desires. It was hard at times to resist just filming the unboxing with my Sony A7Sii, but armed with just the iPhone X, a DJI Osmo Mobile, and tripod adapter — we set out to film an unboxing video that would make J.J. Abrams jealous. Let me know what you think.
Overall I personally was very impressed with the quality of footage I was able to shoot with the iPhone X. I’m someone who loves super long lenses and lots of bokeh, so setting out to shoot an unboxing with only a 24mm & 58mm available was definitely daunting. With a little practice though (and some over the top lens flares) I found that capturing the gorgeous looking shots I was imagining was entirely possible.
