The Moza SlyPod is arguably one of the more exciting pieces of filmmaking gear we’ve seen released in 2019.
It blurs the line between slider and monopod — giving on the go filmmakers the ability to get incredibly smooth slider shots without lugging several pounds of gear.
However, its price tag of $499 has likely discouraged a lot of potential users from taking a chance on it.
That could all be about to change.
Moza just announced a brand new version of the SlyPod which carries over all of the same features except for the carbon fiber construction, opting instead for the less expensive aluminum.
Dubbed the SlyPod E (with “E” likely standing for “Economy”), the new version comes in at $200 less than the original carbon fiber variant.
This price savings means the SlyPod E starts for just $300, a far more reasonable price for a piece of filmmaking gear that many have yet to try of even seen in use.
And, more importantly, this lower price means that the Moza Slypod E + AirCross 2 kit (which works together as a full 3-axis slider) now drops to under $1000 at $818 — by far the lowest of any comparably specced 3-axis slider on the market.
While it’s still unclear if the lower price will actually improve the adoption rate of this innovative new product, it certainly makes it a lot more enticing for any on-the-go filmmakers and videographers that are looking to increase their production value.
The SlyPod E is currently only available to order through Moza’s own website.
It will be available through B&H Photo (and likely other retailers) starting December 16th.
