The number of 32bit float wireless lav mics available on the market has gone from 3 in 2024 to now 10 different mics from 6 different companies in 2026 — so with that in mind I decided it was time I go out and test them all in order to help people decide which mic was worth space in your gear kit.

First lets start with the main takeaway from my experience testing out these microphones.

In 2026, 32bit Float Is the Way To Go

All the microphones I tested for this video — even the ones that I didn’t love — still sounded very good in most situations.

This is due to the inherent hardware requirements that recording in 32bit float demands and the advancement of the technology.

And with some of the dual mic kits dipping as low as $150, there is really NO REASON to not get a 32bit float wireless lav mic in 2026 unless you are on a very strict budget and looking to keep it under $50 or only using it for livestreaming.

This bring me to the second takeaway.

Bigger Is Usually Better For Audio Quality

Other than the DJI Mic 3 & DJI Mic Mini 2S — 4 out of the top 6 microphones I tested were above 20 grams in weight and would generally be considered “larger”.

They are the RODE Wireless Pro, RODE Wireless GO III, Insta360 Mic Pro and Sennheiser Profile Wireless.

All of these microphones delivered crisp and clear audio quality but aren’t as light and teeny tiny as a lot of the tendy wireless mics you see on TikTok and other social media sites.

That is because ultimately, at the end of the day, a larger mic unit can accommodate a larger microphone capsule which almost always is going to directly translate to better quality sound.

Ok, so enough beating around the bush this isn’t a cooking recipe — WHO WON?

The 2026 Winner? Insta360 Mic Pro!

Though it was a very close competition, there could only be one winner.

For 2026, the title of best 32bit float wireless lav mic goes to the Insta360 Mic Pro.

From the E-Ink screen to the unique 3-mic capsule design the Mic Pro is overflowing with innovations, however, it backs up these innovative features with solid dependable performance and great audio quality — including with the optional $29 external lav mic (something I was NOT expecting to be at all good).

The ending scores of all the microphones tested was as follows (the most amount of points possible is 30).

• 1st) Insta360 Mic Pro – 28pts
• 2nd) DJI Mic 3 – 27pts
• 3rd) DJI Mic Mini 2S – 23pts
• 4th) TIE – 21pts
  • Rode Wireless Pro/GO III
  • Hollyland Lark MAX 2
• 6th) TIE -19pts
  • Sennheiser Profile Wireless
  • DJI Mic 2 –
• 8th) Saramonic Ultra Wireless – 16pts
• 9th) Boya Mic 2 – 12pts

Ultimately, any mic finishing close to 20 or higher is an easy recommend.

The Mic Mini 2S is the best budget option and for those on the go.

On the other side, the RODE Wireless Pro and Sennheiser Profile Wireless are the best for people with professional ambitions as they clearly delivered some of the best audio quality of any of the mics while also offering the ability to use an external lav mic.

Overall though the Insta360 Mic Pro and DJI Mic 3 are the best for the average creator looking to level up their audio game, with each offering slight pros/cons over the other

For example the Mic 3 doesn’t allow for external lav mics but works incredibly well with other DJI gear like the Pocket 4, Action 6, etc.

And the Insta360 Mic Pro offers the customizable E-ink screen but is considerably larger than the Mic 3.

What 2027 holds for 32bit float wireless lav mics

Well we’re not even out of 2026 yet and already Hollyland has launched its new Lark M3 which includes 32bit float internal recording for the first time in their M-series microphone.

(Gonna be working on a review of it as soon as I get them to send me one)

It’s also expected that we’ll likely see a DJI Mic 4 or Mic 4 Pro which will possibly bring back the option of an external lav mic as well as introducing something flashy to compete with the Insta360 Mic Pro’s E-ink screen.

And not to be forgotten, RODE Microphones is likely cooking up a Wireless Pro 2 which we might see in the next year.
