DJI Announcement Event: The world of work is changing. Evolve with us. March 28th.

This morning, DJI Enterprise has an announcement for us. Just like with the last invite for the DJI Mavic Air, it is cryptic. The message reads:

“Over the years, DJI has reshaped the way creative minds view the world. Now, we’re changing the way you work in it. Stay tuned for what’s next on March 28th.”

“The world of work is changing. Evolve with us. March 28th.”

DISSECTING DJI’S ANNOUNCEMENT

It is hard to get much information out of the DJI announcement, but we will give it a shot. The first part of the tweet says: “Over the years, DJI has reshaped the way creative minds view the world.” This seems to mean that DJI provided drones to creative photographers and filmmakers and offered them a new, aerial perspective of the world. The second part says: “Now, we’re changing the way you work in it.” The word ‘it’ would have to refer to the world, so DJI will be changing the way creative minds work in the world. This is re-emphasized with the text in the image, which says: “”The world of work is changing. Evolve with us.”

How do creative minds work in the world? I think that for many creative photographers and filmmakers work in essence comes down to two important components: creating the photo or film footage and processing the photo or film footage. The latter would typically be post-production with help of imaging software such as Adobe’s Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, Apple’s Final Cut Pro or others. I think it would be unlikely that DJI would enter that market at this point. The first, more interesting, part is in creating the photos and footage. That could indicate a new drone may be coming on March 28th. If you look at DJI’s image from that perspective the ying-yang circle could resemble a turning propeller and the ‘solar eclipse’-like circle could emphasize improved camera/gimbal hardware, such as a 1-inch sensor for instance.

The only thing left to look at is the sender. The tweet was sent by @DJIEnterprise and not @DJIGlobal, although the latter did retweet the message.

IS THIS THE MAVIC PRO II ANNOUNCEMENT?

Could this be the Mavic Pro II announcement, everybody has been waiting for? Well, it might be but in that case, we would have expected it to come from DJI Global instead of DJI Enterprise. Furthermore, this is only an announcement and not an invitation to an event like we had with the DJI Mavic Air. If DJI was going to announce the new DJI Mavic Pro II, we would expect them to have an event and invite press and media. This announcement does not have a location nor does it give us a lot of time in advance. It is only five days until the 28th.

So, as much as we would like it to be, we do not think this announcement is for the upcoming Mavic Pro II. What it will be, we don’t know yet but luckily we will not have to wait long to find out.

Update 3/24: Check this out. Could it be that the ying-yang circle resembles a control wheel of the DJI MasterWheels and the ‘solar eclipse’-like circle on the right is a lens of the Inspire 2 or a camera mounted on the Ronin 2 gimbal system?

What do you think DJI is planning to announce? Let us know in the comments below.
