FUJIFILM officially announces the X-T4: How does it compare to the X-T3?

After a month of leaks and teasing from Fujifilm, they finally made the X-T4 official in an announcement today.

The followup to its popular X-T3 mirrorless camera, the new X-T4 keeps many of the features that made the flagship APS-C mirrorless camera so popular while also adding in-body stabilization and a larger battery.

Another easily noticeable change is the addition of a flip-out display, something that could make this the perfect vlogging camera.

Let’s take a look at the Fujifilm X-T4 specs and what makes it one of the best ASP-C cameras on the market.

Dialed up

Fujifilm cameras are known for their abundance of physical controls.

Dials, knobs, switches — they have them all — and the X-T4 continues with that tradition.

In fact, other than the new Stills/Video switch, most of the physical controls are identical to the X-T3.

For those who want more modern controls, the X-T4 also features a touchscreen that can be flipped away when not needed for protection.

In-Body Stabilization

The biggest upgrade people will appreciate is the inclusion of IBIS.

The X-T4 uses an all-new system that’s better, smaller, and lighter than what Fujifilm put in the X-H1.

This allows the X-T4 to stay about the same size as its predecessor while giving you at least 5 stops of stabilization.

Add one of 18 X-Mount lenses that have stabilization and this is increased to 6.5 stops of smoothness.

Rounding out the major improvements to the X-T4 is a much larger battery that nearly doubles the shots per charge from 300 to 500 while also powering the new stabilization system.

Sadly, because of the increased battery size, the X-T4 actually loses the headphone jack which the X-T3 introduced.

X-T4 vs X-T3

Fujifilm also made some notable improvements to the X-T4’s autofocus, continuous shooting speed, and video recording.

So, let’s see how the X-T4 compares to the X-T3.

Given that the X-T3 is currently discounted to $1299 in most places, many people are going to have to decide if the X-T4 is worth the extra $400 for a larger battery, in-body stabilization, 1080p/240fps slow-mo, and flip-out screen.

Most amazingly, despite all the new features the Fujifilm X-T4 is both smaller and lighter than the X-T3.

Unfortunately, those looking to purchase the X-T4 will have to wait until April 30 when it is scheduled to start shipping.
